This qualification gives students a coherent introduction into the study of art and design. Students develop art and design projects, and gain an understanding of the creative process. As part of this course, students will study visual recording and communication, critical analysis and production skills to produce art and design outcomes.
This course has an equivalence of one A-Level. Students will cover four units. Two of these units are externally assessed, and are worth 58% of the total qualification, and the coursework is worth 52% of the qualification. Students will be given themes to research, and shown a range of new processes and working practices. There are lots of opportunities to provide a personal response to these assessments.
You can work in any media you wish, including drawing, painting, photography, print, sculpture and film.
This course will involve a visit to a major art gallery.
